As the hover over Anupam Kher’s starrer Manmohan Singh biopic ‘The Accidental Prime Minister’ refuses to die down.
The Delhi High Court rejected the petition demanding a ban on the trailer of the film.
The petition by Pooja Mahajan claimed that the facts have been twisted in the film to malign the reputation of the former PM Manmohan Singh.
Also, the petitioner claimed that the film’s trailer is affecting the relationship with other countries and would impact the integrity and sovereignty of the country as well.
Remember the biopic has already run into the political controversy with the Congress dubbing the film as BJP’s propaganda against the former PM.
“I would say that please completely stop the trailer because it is giving wrong message to everybody whosoever is seeing and we are taking about it…that is a misleading thing to viewers. So, we need to stop the trailers at the moment,” asserted Pooja Mahajan, the petitioner.
Actors Anupam Kher and Akshaye Khanna play Manmohan Singh and Baru respectively in the film; is based on a similarly titled book by Sanjaya Baru, who was the erstwhile media advisor of former Prime Minister.
The film is slated to release on Friday.
