(Newsdeskgptv) Suspended Parliamentarian of Aam Aadmi Party, Dr. Dharamvira Gandhi asserted that he would attend the AAP’s rebel Khaira group’s convention in Patiala, scheduled on September 9.
With both factions of AAP trying to woo party’s dissident members, two MLAs of the rebel group Pirmal Singh and Jagdev Singh Kamalu met Dr Gandhi and asked him to attend the meet.
Talking to a news agency, Dr Gandhi confirmed that he would join hands with Khaira in Punjab’s interest.
MP Patiala said, “Sukhpal Khaira is raising the same issues in the party I had raised in 2015. Khaira is talking sense by raising certain issues concerning Punjab and I am with him on this. His demand for organizational autonomy for the state unit is valid”.
Another dissident member Sucha Singh Chhotepur said that he had not been approached by anybody so far.
However, AAP spokesperson Baljinder Kaur claimed that the party would approach Chhotepur, Dr Gandhi and every other worker who was earlier with the party.
Dr. Gandhi, who had parted ways with AAP in 2015, confirmed that he will contest the 2019 parliamentary polls from Patiala even as independent.
“Our ‘Punjab Manch’ will take the shape of a political party before the 2019 elections. We will float a viable regional third alternative in Punjab,” he added.
