When after a year after coming to the power some of Congress leaders were complaining that “even though it is our government, Akalis are still ruling the bureaucracy”, this seem to be just an excuse back then, but certainly cannot be called so anymore after a picture of a DSP touching feet of Sukhbir Badal went viral on social media.
In the picture DSP Karan Sher Singh from Bathinda can be seen touching the feet of Sukhbir Singh Badal the president of Shiromani Akali Dal, that too on duty, alliance partner of BJP in Punjab.
After the matter came to light, Bathinda Police’s IG MF Farooqi sent a notice to DSP Karan Sher Singh seeking an explanation on the matter.
Farooqi says that this is a violation of police conduct to touch any political leader’s feet while wearing uniform.
He said that all information regarding this matter has been sent to the Election Commission as well.
On the other hand, DSP has received a blow from the Election Commission.
On the instructions of Election Commission, the government has transferred Bathinda’s DSP (City-2) Kanshrer Singh.
The Election Commission had sought a report from the police on the basis of a media report.
The DSP, while refuting the allegation, had claimed that during the public function, when Sukhbir Badal was imbalanced he helped him which was wrongly interpreted.
Police has informed the DSP that he must be sent to the Armed Battalion on the orders of Commission.
The picture was taken at the time when Sukhbir Singh Badal arrived in Bathinda to attend a political meeting.
Not only this action is being seen as immoral by the authorities, but also this is seen as a violation of the model code of conduct.
