Taking the cricket world by storm, Indian women’s cricket team captain Harmanpreet Kaur strike a gigantic eight sixes en route a breathtaking century as India outshined New Zealand by 34 runs in the opening match of the World T20 (Twenty20) held in West Indies.

Indian captain hit 103 runs off 51-ball to become the first Indian woman to score a T20I (Twenty20 International) century.

Twitter was flooded with congratulatory messages for the Indian captain.

After team India won the toss, Harmanpreet elected to bat first against New Zealand.

Smriti Mandhana and Taniya Bhatiya opened the match but were departed early by Lea Tahuhu.

However, after their dismissal, Jemimah Rodrigues and Harmanpreet in a partnership scored a 134-run to help India get out of trouble.

Jemimah Rodrigues too played a rock-solid knock, scoring 59 off 45 balls.

India has posted the highest-ever total in the history of the Women’s World T20, which is credited to the record partnership between Jemimah and Harmanpreet.
