Manto is based on the life of Saadat Hasan Manto which is enacted by actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui.

The film which is directed by Nandita Das has been already selected for Toronto International Film Festival and Cannes Film Festival amidst many others.

As the trailer is out, one can definitely say that teaser undoubtedly worth the wait.

The trailer starts on with Manto played by Nawazuddin Siddiqui, standing in a courtroom and probing why we can’t tell the truth as it is.

The trailer burrows into the philosophy of Manto and the way he writes about his female characters.

His Writing

Just because of Manto’s unapologetic writing, he was frequently charged with obscenity.

Manto believed that how harsh the truth is, despite the fact that one is uncomfortable it must be spoken out loud.

If Manto desires to enjoy the freedom of expression then he needs to understand the responsibilities of a writer too, Manto is questioned by a lawyer played by legendry port Jawed Akhtar in the film.

The film is written and directed by Nandita Das, the film also stars Tahir Bhasin and Rasika Dugal.

The film also features Javed Akhtar, Divya Dutta, Rishi Kapoor, Paresh Rawal, Rajashri Deshpande and Chandan Roy Sanyal amongst others. Manto will release on 21 September.
