A women’s cricket team, Northern Districts, in Adelaide scored a ginormous total of 596/3 in a 50-over against Port Adelaide in the SACA PC Statewide Super Women’s 1st Grade match.

Northern Districts later packed them out for hardly 25 runs to win the match by 571 runs.

The four Northern Districts batters – Sam Betts, Darcie Brown, skipper Tegan McPharlin and Tabitha Saville, scored centuries.

Betts smashed 124 off 71 balls, Brown remained unbeaten on 117 off 84, Saville hit a 56-ball 120 while McPharlin top-scored with 136 off 80.

Moreover, Port Adelaide conceded 88 extras, being 75 of them wides.

“It’s pretty cool that, at the end of the day, we potentially have a world record,” said McPharlin.

Adding further, McPharlin said, “There were only three sixes hit for the whole day for us. It just shows that we were willing to run between the wickets and hit along the ground and truly play proper cricket.”

In 2007, Sri Lankan team Kandyan Ladies comprised 632 for 4 in their 50-overs against Pushpadana Ladies, then bundled them out for 18 runs, consequently winning the encounter by 614 runs.
