Almost 200 McDonald’s restaurants around Austria will help U.S citizens in need.
Yes, what you read is true. Recently, the U.S. Embassy in Vienna posted a photo on its Facebook page regarding their new “Memorandum of Agreement” with the fast-food giant.
The U.S embassy concerned that the U.S citizens should have every option available to get the help they need on time and there couldn’t be a better option than the 24 hours hotline McDonald’s.
“American citizens traveling in Austria who find themselves in distress and without a way to contact the U.S. Embassy can enter – as of Wednesday, May 15, 2019 – any McDonald’s in Austria, and staff will assist them in making contact with the U.S. Embassy for consular services,” the embassy said.
This service will help those who somehow lose their passports or are not able to get in touch with the embassy.
Restaurant staff has been given proper training to US citizens to get in touch with the US embassy.
McDonald’s said its branches would continue to be Austrian territory and would offer help to not just Americans but everyone in need.
