The equity benchmark indices started on a higher note on Friday’s trading session, as Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s BJP (Bharatiya Janata Party) headed for victory bigger than in 2014.
In the early trade, the S&P BSE Sensex index rose to 39,223.85, up 412.46 points, and the NSE Nifty 50 barometer rose as much as 118.5 points to 11,775.55.
At 10:47 am, the 30-share Sensex traded at 38,914.65, with a gain of 102.62 points or 0.26%, while the 50-scrip Nifty was at 11,676.65, up 19.60 points or 0.17%.
Larsen & Toubro, Hero Moto Corp, Bharti Airtel, Mahindra & Mahindra and State Bank of India were the top gainers on Sensex pack, trading between 1.33% and 2.24%.
Trading between 1.23% and 3.30% higher, Bharat Petroleum, Larsen & Toubro, Asian Paints, Indian Oil, Axis Bank, and Bharti Airtel were the top gainers on the Nifty index.
In the other Asian markets, the MSCI’s broadest index of Asia-Pacific shares outside Japan fell 0.2% and Japan’s Nikkei 225 edged down 0.37%.
Meanwhile, the Sensex index settled 299 points or 0.76% lower to 38,811 and Nifty ended at 0.69% or 81 points down to 11,657.
