The domestic stock markets started Friday’s session on a firm note.

In the early trade, the S&P BSE Sensex gained as much as 203.17 points or 0.54% to trade at 37,958.06, while the NSE Nifty50 rose by 33.60 points to hit at 11,376.85.

Trading between 1.41% and 3.40% higher, Kotak Mahindra Bank, State Bank of India, ICICI Bank, IndusInd Bank, and PowerGrid were the top advances on the Sensex pack.

Kotak Mahindra Bank, GAIL, Hindustan Petroleum, IndusInd Bank and ICICI Bank contributed the most to the advances on the 50-scrip index.

At 9:43 am, the 30-share Sensex rose 228.93 points or 0.61% to trade at 37,983.82 and the broader Nifty traded 61.05 points or 0.54% higher at 11,404.30.

In the Asian markets, the MSCI broadest index of Asia-Pacific shares outside Japan rose 0.5% and Japan’s Nikkei gained 1.05%.

Meanwhile, the 30-shre benchmark index rose 2.72 points or 0.01% to close at 37,754.89, and the Nifty50 finished 0.01% or 1.55 points higher at 11,343.25.
