fight between Cops and driver

A dramatic video has gone viral on the social media, in which a group of policemen are seen thrashing a tempo driver on a busy street in Mukherjee Nagar, north-west Delhi on Sunday.

The incident happened on Sunday after an accident took place between the tempo and police’s vehicle.

As per officials, two police officers were injured when the driver, who chased them with a sword, allegedly attacked him.

However, the driver alleged that the cops first attacked the driver.

Assistant sub-inspectors Devendra and Sanjay Malik, and constable Pushpendra have been suspended.

Condemning the police action as ‘unjustified’, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal tweeted, “Delhi Police brutality in Mukherjee Nagar is highly condemnanble and unjustified. I demand an impartial probe into the whole incident & strict action against the guilty. Protectors of citizens can’t be allowed to turn into uncontrolled violent mobsters.”

Moreover, the matter took a political turn soon with BJP MLA from Rajouri Garden Manjinder Singh Sirsa claiming that the police officers insulted the Sikh man by attacking his turban.

“Sitting outside Mukherjee Nagar Police Station for justice. Those @DelhiPolice officials should be rusticated right away! Join us in our Dharna,” tweeted Sirsa, a member of Shiromani Akali Dal.
