OSTEND: A man from Belgium sat on a toilet for about five days this week I an attempt to set a world record.
48-year-old Jimmy De Frenne set himself a challenge for sitting in a toilet for 165 hours set up especially for the feat in the middle of a bar.
However, Jimmy gave up after 116 hours on Friday morning.
Talking to a television, Jimmy said, “Self-mockery is the best humour there is. Why am I doing this? Why not? There is nothing I like more than people making fun of me, because then I can do the same with them.”
Jimmy’s toilet was located in Filip’s Place Bar in Ostend, Belgium, which was open throughout, allowing his family and friends to come over for a chat.
Ironically, he further needed toilet breaks, as his toilet bar was not plumbed in. Additionally, Jimmy was allowed five minutes break every hour, which he could accumulate over several hours to allow him to sleep.
Seemingly, sitting that long was not that easy as it looked.
“I was very tired and my legs hurt but I believe in my success and try to make this record official,” Jimmy said.
Jimmy said he had discovered that someone had performed it for 100 hours before; however, there is no official world record for sitting on a toilet.
Guinness World Records was aware of the record attempt, said Jimmy, adding that the witnesses were making checks to validate it.
