Sheriff Ron Freeman said Roper’s fatherly instincts kicked in right away, as he tried to soothe the wailing infant. Hospital staff named the baby girl, India. She is said to be healthy and in foster care. The search for the baby India’s mother has been ongoing since June 6. The Forsyth County police released the video in hope that anyone with information in the case will come forward.

BodyCam: Police Officers Rescue Newborn Baby Girl From Plastic Bag
A newborn baby girl was found in a plastic bag, abandoned in the woods on the side of Daves Creek Road in Forsyth County, Georgia. Residents from Cumming, a city 56 km north of Atlanta, heard crying in the woods and called 911. It was Deputy Sheriff Terry Roper, who made this troubling discovery. His body camera captured the whole dramatic rescue. In the video, the baby is pulled from the shopping bag with its umbilical cord appearing to still be attached.
