China approves the teaching of MBBS in English after record Indian student enrollment
With a number of college students from India enrolling to study medication in China, the country’s education ministry has authorized 45 medical colleges to teach MBBS in English.
China’s education ministry has allowed only 45 of the local medical colleges out of over 200 to enrol foreign students to teach MBBS in the English language.
Universities in China have speculated enrolment of a record number of Indian students to study medicine.
The country attracts medical students from not only India but other countries around the globe too. China attracts overseas college students due to its affordable courses compared to institutions in the UK, the US and Australia.
Currently, there are over 23,000 Indian students studying in different courses in Chinese universities.
At present, in total, nearly 5 lakh foreign students are studying in universities in China.
Surprisingly, over 21,000 out of 23,000 Indian students have enrolled to study MBBS, which is an all-time high.
A press release issued by the Indian Embassy said that the Chinese MOE has also clarified that universities which are not in the list of the 45 universities should not admit foreign students for the MBBS programme to be taught in English.
