Here’s Why Gurdas Maan Cancelled His Kolkata’s Durga Pooja Performance
Veteran Punjabi singer Gurdas Maan has cancelled his program at a Durga Puja show in Kolkata.
Actually, Mann was informed that the venue disrespected the morality of Sikhism, after which he refused to perform.
‘Ki Banu Duniya Da’ hitmaker, who was en route to the City of Joy, came to know that a replica of the Golden Temple (Harmandir Sahib) had been displayed near the performance venue, which did not go well with Maan.
Talking to why he cancelled his performance, Mann said, “The event organizers have constructed a replica of the Golden Temple, where people entered wearing shoes and bare head.”
“Sadly, even if it ruffles the organisers, I could not have done this as it’s completely against my personal beliefs in the sanctity of religious places. I’m quite shocked at this violation.”
Gurdas Maan is slated to perform at the Subhash Uddyan venue in Bhowanipore area of South Kolkata on Sunday.
Meanwhile, Mann recently faced a lot of criticism for supporting the ‘one nation, one language’ idea.
