Martyrs’ Well in Jallianwala Bagh a Major Concern: Khadoor Sahib MP

Congress MP from Khadoor Sahib, Jasbir Singh Gill Dimpa woe over the damage of Martyrs’ Well at Amritsar’s historic Jallianwala Bagh on Wednesday.

Immediate restoration of the well and action should be taken against those responsible for damaging it, said Singh in the Lok Sabha.

During the ongoing restoration at Amritsar’s Jallianwala Bagh, the damage to the Well drew criticism from various quarters, including martyrs’ families.

The Martyrs’ Well has immense historical significance.

On April 13, 1919 in Amritsar, British military under Col Reginald Dyer’s command had opened fire at the people, who were peacefully protesting at the Jallianwala Bagh. And to save their lives from the indiscriminate firing, a protesters jumped into the well.
