“Modi Reduced Tariff To 50% After One Phone Call”- Trump
Referring to the import tariff on the Harley Davidson bikes in an interview, US President Donald Trump said that even though India has reduced its import tariff on American motorcycles from 100% the half 50% , it is still unacceptable and too high. Trump said that under his leadership the United States is a country that can no longer be fooled as he asserted, “We’re not the foolish country that does so badly.” “You look at India, very good friend of mine, Prime Minister (Narendra) Modi, you take a look at what they’ve done, 100 percent tax on a motorcycle. We charge them nothing, “Trump added. Undoubtedly Trump targeted India even after they reduced the tariff on its half percentage from 100 to straight 50%. Import tariff on American motorcycles is an issue that has been close to Trump’s heart because of his friendship with India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Referring to his conversation with Prime Minister Modi on tariff issues, Trump said, “So, when Harley sends over there, they have 100% tax,” he said. “When they [India] send in they make a tremendous number of motorcycles when they send them in, no tax. I called him [Modi]. I said it’s unacceptable.” Trump said that he talked with Modi on a phone call and he agreed to reduce the tariff to 50% after his phone call. “I said it’s still unacceptable because it’s 50% versus nothing,” said the US president. “It’s still unacceptable. And they’re working on it.” Donald Trump claimed that India charges America very high of import tariffs on American motorcycles. In response to a question Trump stated that U.S is a bank that everybody wants to rob.
