In the biggest ever haul of narcotics being smuggled from Pakistan in recent years have been seized by the Customs Department.
The Customs Department seized 532 kg of heroin valued at around Rs 2,700 crore, which was smuggled into India from Pakistan in a truck through at the Integrated Check Post at the Attari border, Border officials said.
Heroin was concealed under a consignment of salt, which arrived from Pakistan as during the detailed examination of 600 bags rock salt consignment 15 were suspected to contain narcotic material.
Dipak Kumar Gupta, Custom Commissioner Amritsar said that the customs seized 532 kg of suspected ‘Heroin’ & 52 kg of suspected mixed ‘Narcotics’ at Integrated Check Post (ICP), Amritsar. The value of the heroin in the International Market value is approximately Rs 2700 crore.
“This is the biggest-ever achievement in annals of the Indian Customs history,” said Gupta.
