A Pakistani channel made a cricket World Cup advertisement featuring a spoof using IAF Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman’s lookalike has not gone well with the Indian Twitterati, terming the act – ‘mocking’, ‘shameful’ and ‘cheap’.
The advertisement shows on the conversation Abhinandan had with the Pakistani officials in captivity after his MiG 21 Bison fell on the Pak-occupied Kashmir side during an aerial dogfight on 27 February after the Balakot air strike.
The video had gone viral which shows Abhinandan replying, “I’m sorry, I am not supposed to tell you this” – to the questions asked to him during his captivity in Pakistan.
In the ad, Abhinandan’s lookalike is seen wearing a blue jersey while holding a white tea cup in his hand.
“Shameful for Pakistan to mock our hero #Abhinandan ahead of #INDvsPAK World Cup cricket game. We need to retaliate!” tweeted Harsh Goenka, Chairman, RPG Enterprises.
