Punjab NCB busts international drug racket; Two arrested
The federal anti-narcotics agency said that more people under the scanner are being searched in the international drug racket. Punjab State Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) claimed that they have busted international drugs smuggling racket running between Punjab and Canada. The NCB also arrested two people and seized about Rs 2 crore worth of drugs. High-quality cocaine was discovered in the Jalandhar district of Punjab during the operation, the federal anti-narcotics agency. After a consignment of 422 grams of South American- origin cocaine was sent in a printer-machine courier from Canada to Jalandhar via Delhi a few days back, the drug smuggling racket was busted, a senior official said. The NCB intercepted the consignment and recovered the drugs, Deputy director-general (DDG-northern region) of NCB, SK Jha.
