The federal anti-narcotics agency said that more people under the scanner are being searched in the international drug racket.
Punjab State Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) claimed that they have busted international drugs smuggling racket running between Punjab and Canada.
The NCB also arrested two people and seized about Rs 2 crore worth of drugs.
High-quality cocaine was discovered in the Jalandhar district of Punjab during the operation, the federal anti-narcotics agency.
After a consignment of 422 grams of South American- origin cocaine was sent in a printer-machine courier from Canada to Jalandhar via Delhi a few days back, the drug smuggling racket was busted, a senior official said.
The NCB intercepted the consignment and recovered the drugs, Deputy director-general (DDG-northern region) of NCB, SK Jha.
After that, a similar consignment was sent to Jalandhar, which was received by a person identified as Yogesh Kumar Dhuna.
A senior official said that Dhuna revealed the name of his alleged link Akshinder Singh in the international drug racket.
Amritsar zonal office of the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) arrested both Singh and Dhuna from Jalandhar.
After Singh was nabbed, another 115 grams of cocaine, 13 grams of ephedrine, 80 grams of hashish oil, over 290 drugs capsules, and contrabands were seized, said Jha.
According to NCB, the racket had been operating in across Delhi, Punjab and Mumbai with linkages to Canada and Australia.
The agency said that more people under the scanner are being searched in the international drug racket.
Akshinder Singh is in drug business from over three years, revealed NCB officials.
Meanwhile, this is the first seizure of such high-quality drug in Jalandhar, Jha said.
