Punjab Police’s Truck Carrying Liquor Impounded

Chandigarh, August 13: The Punjab government and the Punjab Police found themselves in a catch-22 situation when a police truck was impounded with a liquor that was being carried illegally. The Chandigarh Police received information that illegal liquor was being transported in a blue-coloured Swaraj truck of Punjab Police bearing number, PB-02-AY-7178. A naka was laid near the CM’s official residence and upon searching the truck, five boxes of liquor were recovered. The truck is reported to be of the Commando Battalion at PAP Complex, Jalandhar. According to information, the truck had come to Chandigarh to collect feed for horses and upon return, the police personnel were carrying illicit liquor. Giving information, Inspector Neeraj Sharna said on being questioned, the truck driver Senior Constable Bachittar Singh could not give a satisfactory answer. Legal proceedings have been initiated against the accused under the provisions of the Excise Act.
