While giving welcome speech after Om Birla took charge as new Lok Sabha SpeakerAthawale extended his wishes to Congress president Rahul Gandhi on his 49th birthday and had the Lok Sabha in splits. Not just Athawale took a jibe at his loss from the family bastion of Amethi, laong with that he even added that Rahul Gandhi offered him to cross over from the ruling NDA to the UPA ahead of the Lok Sabha election. But he ended up giving the expiation in a witty manner by saying that he saw the wind was blowing in favour of Modi Ji, and that is why he stuck with Prime Minister Narendra Modi led-NDA. Athawale’s speech got huge attention in the Parliament and all members including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Rahul Gandhi and UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi went into laughter mode.
