The equity benchmark indices started in red on Wednesday but recouped all of early losses.
The S&P BSE Sensex rose as much as 164.46 points to 39,599.40, while the NSE Nifty 50 index rose as much as 42.65 points to 11,839.10.
From an intraday low of 39,319.64, the Sensex surges as much as 279.76 points.
At 10:31 am, the BSE 30 traded at 39,542.26, with a gain of 107.32 points or 0.27%, and the Nifty 50 index was at 11,823.80, up 27.35 points or 0.23%.
Top gainers on the 30-share Sensex were Sun Pharma, Power Grid, NTPC, Larsen & Toubro, and ONGC, trading between 3.39% and 1.05%.
Sun Pharma, Axis Bank and ICICI Bank contributed most to the gains on the Nifty index.
In the global markets, the MSCI’s broadest index of Asia-Pacific shares outside Japan shed 0.2%, South Korea’s KOSPI declined 0.1%, Australian stocks plunged 0.15%, Hong Kong’s Hang Seng dipped 0.1%.
Meanwhile, the Sensex rose 312 points or 0.8% to close at 39,435, and the broader Nifty ended 97 points or 0.83% higher at 11,796.
