The equity benchmark indices started Tuesday’s session in green breaking four day fall.
In the early trade, the S&P BSE Sensex index rose as much as 164.17 points to 39,124.96 and the NSE Nifty 50 by 44.4 points to 11,716.55.
At 10:09 am, the BSE 30 traded 144.76 points or 0.37% higher at 39,105.55, while the broader Nifty was up 11.65 points or 0.10% at 11,683.80.
Top gainers on the Sensex pack were PowerGrid, Infosys, IndusInd Bank, HCL Tech and Mahindra & Mahindra, trading between 1.495 and 0.73%.
Gaining between 0.70% and 1.53%, IndusInd Bank, Power Grid, HCL Tech, Vedanta, Cipla, and Bajaj Auto were the top gainers on the Nifty index.
Country’s economic growth hit a five-year low of 6.8% in 2018-19, showed official data last month.
Globally, the MSCI’s broadest index of Asia-Pacific shares outside Japan surged 0.2% Hong Kong’s Hang Seng gained 0.15%, while Japan’s Nikkei dropped 0.3% and the Shanghai Composite Index dipped 0.25%.
Meanwhile, the 30-share Sensex fell 491 points or 1.25% to close at 38,960 and the 50-scrip Nifty ended 151 points or 1.3% lower at 11,672.
