The equity benchmark indices started on a higher note on Wednesday’s trading session amid strong global peers.
In early deals, the S&P BSE Sensex rose as much as 389.46 points to 39,435.80, and the NSE Nifty 50 index rose as much as 110 points to 11,801.50.
At 9:57 am, the 30-share Sensex traded 290.41 points or 0.74% to 39,336.75, while the 50-scrip Nifty was up 83.05 points or 0.71%, to 11,774.55.
The top gainers on the Sensex pack were HDFC, Kotak Mahindra Bank and Reliance Industries.
Gaining between 2.03% and 3.72%, Tata Steel, Kotak Mahindra Bank, Hindalco, Indiabulls Housing Finance, Vedanta, and Tata Motors were the top advancers on the Nifty index.
In the global markets, the MSCI’s broadest index of Asia-Pacific shares outside Japan rose 0.6%, South Korea climbed 1.1% and Japan’s Nikkei by 1.5%
Meanwhile, the Sensex rose 86 points or 0.22% to close at 39,046 and the broader Nifty ended 19 points or 0.17% higher at 11,692.
