Veteran comedian and actor Dinyar Contractor passed away at the age of 79 on Wednesday morning.
The actor was suffering from various age-related illnesses. His last rites will be performed in Worli at 3:30 pm.
Dinyar had been a part of some popular TV shows like Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah and Khichdi.
The Government of India awarded the veteran actor with Padma Shri in 2019 and the President of India presented the award.
Dinyar Contractor started his career in professional acting in 1966. The actor was an acclaimed theatre artist and acted in Hindi as well as Gujarati plays.
The actor was seen in Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah as Sodhi’s father-in-law.
Contractor started working on TV programs when Mumbai Doordarshan launched their DD-2 channel in Mumbai with ‘Aao Marvao Meri Saathe’, a Gujarati show.
Dinyar had also worked with many Bollywood movies like ‘Chori Chori Chupke Chupke’, ‘Baazigar’, ‘Khiladi’, ’36 China Town’, and ‘Baadshah’.
