In a rare judgment, the Consumer Court in Pune, Maharashtra slapped a Rs. 55,000 fine on India’s famous home delivery food application Zomato and a hotel in Pune.
The complainant is a Nagpur-based lawyer, Shanmukh Deshmukh, who alleged that he had ordered paneer butter masala from Hotel Preet Punjabi Swad through Zomato, but was delivered butter chicken instead.
As per reports, since the curries of both dishes look alike, he didn’t realize it was a no-vegetarian dish and ate it. However, only while eating Deshmukh realized that he was served chicken instead of paneer.
Reports claim that lawyer was delivered wrong food not just once, but twice.
After realizing that it was chicken, he informed the restored, which promised Deshmukh that it would replace his order.
As assureed, the Hotel Preet Punjabi Swad made another parcel delivered to Deshmukh, which shocked him once again as it turned out to be butter chicken.
Though, the hotel admitted its mistake and both Zomato and the hotel were bound to pay Rs 50,000 for deficiency in service and the rest amount for mental harassment.
